A remarkable story of canine bravery has emerged from rural China, where a corgi named Dapang led six neighbourhood dogs on a two-day, 10-mile journey home after they were stolen from their homes. The dogs, including a golden retriever and a German shepherd, were reportedly destined for the meat trade before their daring escape.
Daring Escape and Perilous Journey
According to reports from the South China Post, the pack was snatched from a small village in Changchun and transported in a van. In a display of remarkable teamwork, the dogs managed to chew through their cages and escape, setting out on a mammoth trek back to their owners. With only their instincts to guide them, they navigated heavy motorway traffic and vast wheat fields, covering 10 miles over two days.
Dapang the corgi took the lead, walking ahead to keep the group on track and determined to reunite his friends with their families. The dogs moved in a specific formation throughout the journey, with the golden retriever acting as a sentry on the perimeter, scanning for danger and encouraging the others forward.
Injury and Unwavering Loyalty
The German shepherd suffered a serious injury during the escape, but the pack refused to leave him behind. Onlookers reported that the dogs took plenty of breaks so he could catch his breath, demonstrating incredible loyalty and care. One witness told Dahe Daily, "They resemble a band of little brothers in distress, moving in unison - nothing like stray dogs."
A driver captured the group navigating a motorway during their journey, and the clip has since gone viral on social media, touching hearts worldwide. The owner of the German shepherd and golden retriever expressed immense relief, saying, "We are so lucky they came back - not to be eaten."
