Layla, a three-year-old mixed breed dog, has spent her entire life in a shelter after being rescued as a puppy from the streets of Egypt. She is blind and has developed a unique way to navigate: she throws her front legs out in front of her to check for walls or obstacles. This habit reminds rescuers of the challenges she has overcome.
From Timid to Confident
Rescuers say Layla was once extremely timid, but with years of patience and care from the shelter owner, she has grown in confidence. She now enjoys spending time with adults and other calm dogs.
However, because the shelter is all she has ever known, leaving it will be frightening. Rescuers believe it could take Layla a long time to settle into a home and trust her new surroundings. They say anyone willing to be patient will discover a gentle, loving dog who simply needs someone to believe in her.
Ideal Home
Layla is up for adoption with Miracle's Mission and is looking for a quiet home without children, where she can adjust at her own pace. She could happily live with another calm dog and would benefit from owners willing to help her build confidence and learn the skills she has never had the chance to develop.

About Miracle's Mission
Founded in 2015, Miracle's Mission is dedicated to "provide a place of safety for animals in danger, educate on the need for neutering both pets and strays, and to neuter stray dogs and cats to prevent the birth of more animals onto the streets".
Detailing how the charity got its name, a statement explained: "Miracle was rescued from the streets of Borneo at one-week-old before her tiny eyes were even open. She was found with her siblings in a very remote area, where they were likely abandoned and very unwell." The puppies were full of maggots, with ringworm and blood parasites. Unfortunately, Miracle's siblings did not make it. "Miracle was cared for and had a very long road to recovery ahead of her. She had several injuries and was very weak, but she made a miraculous recovery and is now strong, happy and healthy, living with her adopted sisters Star and Tess, who were also rescued from Borneo. Her aim is to help save many more animals in need around the world."
