Royal Mail to Roll Out Parcel Postboxes Across UK After Successful Trial

Royal Mail has announced the nationwide introduction of parcel postboxes, the first major change to postbox use in 160 years. The move follows a successful trial and aims to make parcel posting easier for small businesses and online sellers.

The new parcel postboxes will allow customers to post pre-paid parcels and barcoded return parcels in the same way they post letters. They will be installed later this year in cities including Birmingham, Leeds, Aberdeen and Cardiff.

Mark Street, head of campaigns at Royal Mail, said the initiative is part of efforts to improve customer convenience. He noted that the trial was successful and the wider rollout will offer flexibility to online sellers who may not keep regular office hours.
