Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World in Shropshire was forced to close on Monday after a fire broke out in the zoo office. The family-run attraction near Telford confirmed that three animals died in the blaze, but they were personal pets belonging to the owners, not part of the zoo collection.
Fire Discovered in Zoo Office
In a video update shared on Monday evening, owner Will Dorrell said: "Sometime around 7 AM this morning, a fire broke out in the building just behind us. That is the zoo office." He said the blaze was discovered around 30 to 45 minutes later by the owners and a member of staff.
Zoo Issues Statement to Visitors
Visitors were told to leave as the attraction closed its gates. The zoo has not yet announced when it will reopen, but further updates are expected.
