Two large wildfires have broken out in the Peak District today (July 13), just hours after people were evacuated from their homes as emergency services declared a "major" incident in North Wales.
Firefighters were called to the large wildfires, which have engulfed a huge area of Tintwistle Moor near Glossop, around 1.15am. Videos show the sheer size of the land burning. Helicopters can also be seen picking up water to try and douse the fast-spreading flames.
Weekend Fires Across the Region
The blaze follows a number of fires which broke out at popular beauty-spots across the North West and North Wales over the weekend. Fire services remained on the scene at Dovestone Reservoir in Greater Manchester late last night, after a huge moor fire broke out over 24 hours earlier (on July 11 around 8.45pm). Smoke could be seen billowing into the sky for several miles and members of the public had been advised to avoid the area.
In Wales, North Wales Fire and Rescue Services declared a "major" incident on Sunday (July 12) after a huge blaze set alight in Conwy. Thick plumes of smoke could be seen after a fire ignited near Sychnant Pass on Conwy Mountain. Two more wildfires ignited later in the day.
