A walking spot on the banks of Loch Lomond has been hailed as 'incredible' and 'one of the prettiest' in the area, with a short 20 to 25 minute route that is perfect for a wholesome day out.
A Hidden Gem in Argyll and Bute
Grace Cordey recently visited the location herself and shared her adventure on TikTok. After making a 75-minute journey to the spot near Loch Lomond with her boyfriend, she showcased the 'stunning' scenery in a video.
'If you are looking for a new walk to try, definitely try the Tarbet Isle walk,' Grace began. 'We went for the day and it was absolutely stunning - the views were incredible.'
She described the walk as 'not too strenuous', taking around 20 to 25 minutes. 'It's the perfect walk on a wholesome day out,' Grace concluded.
What to Expect at Tarbet Isle
Forestry and Land Scotland, which manages Tarbet Isle in the Western Highlands, states online: 'Tarbet Isle lies on the banks of Loch Lomond just north of Tarbet - the Isle itself sits offshore.'
'It is referred to as 'Honeymoon Island' due to tales that newly married couples were sent to spend a week on the island together. The marriage was thought to have a good chance of success if they were still on speaking terms at the end of the week. The trail gives great views down Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond and the surrounding hills.'
Regarding Grace's walk, Forestry and Land Scotland describes it as 'a short stroll through Scots Pine with wonderful views over Loch Lomond to Ben Lomond and the Argyll Forest Park'.
Parking and Directions
Self-contained motorhomes and campervans are permitted to park overnight for a fee of £10, while daytime parking in the car park remains free of charge.
Forestry and Land Scotland provided the following directions: 'Tarbet Isle lies to the north of Tarbet on the A82. The car park is on the inland side of the road along a short but steep drive. G83 7DG is the nearest postcode.'
Grace summed it up in a caption: 'One of the prettiest walks I've done near Glasgow. Tarbet Isle is definitely worth the drive.'
