Residents and staff at Oakeshott House Care Home in Stirling have launched a week-long cycling challenge to cover 274 miles on a static bike, inspired by recent sporting events.
Challenge details
The target distance represents the length of Scotland from Cape Wrath to the Mull of Galloway. Participants include residents, staff, families, and visiting professionals, with the goal set to be completed by Sunday evening.
Activity coordinator Meg Renton said: "It’s been fantastic seeing so many get on board for our ‘Tour de Scotland’ fundraiser here at Oakeshott House."
Community involvement
The bike was donated by a family, and the initiative has drawn participation from the social work team as well. Renton added: "We have our Community Cafe on Friday morning from 10.30am, so if anyone wishes to call in and add to our total you will be made very welcome."
Funds raised will support the residents’ activities fund. Nurse Jen McIntyre remarked: "It’s good to see everyone come together to raise funds for the residents."
