Parmo Prince Discovers 'Unbelievable' Parmo at Gateshead Takeaway
Parmo Prince Finds 'Unbelievable' Parmo in Gateshead

The self-proclaimed Parmo Prince, a popular parmo expert from the North East, has discovered an 'unbelievable' parmo at a Gateshead takeaway, miles from his native Teesside. The dish, which Teessiders hold dear, was found at Pizza Masters.

The Parmo: A Teesside Classic

The parmo, a breaded chicken breast topped with cheese and béchamel sauce, has become a staple for many, especially after a night out or as a hangover cure. Over the years, it has evolved significantly, even appearing on BBC's Masterchef in 2018 when Geordie chef Anthony O'Shaughnessy served one to judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.

Creative Variations

Variations like the hot shot parmo have gained popularity, and chefs have become increasingly inventive. Stockton actor Callum Woodhouse, speaking at a screening of his new Channel 5 drama The Fortune, praised The Ship pub for its 50+ parmo varieties, each named after a country, such as Chinese, Egyptian, or Canadian with poutine.

Pizza Masters Impresses

While Woodhouse recommended Mounjaros in Newcastle as the best parmo spot, the Parmo Prince was blown away by Pizza Masters in Gateshead. In an Instagram video, he enjoyed their chicken tikka masala parmo, declaring, 'Whoever says these guys can't do a parmo, you're waffling! This is unbelievable!' He noted the 'nice and juicy chicken breast, full of cheese and full of bech' and wondered why no Teesside takeaway offers a similar quality.

'I can safely say I've never had a parmo like this in my life. Unbelievable,' he added.
