Set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the show follows a group of working-class teenagers known as the Pogues, who live in The Cut. They are set against the wealthy seasonal residents, the Kooks, from the Figure Eight area. The story centres on John B and his friends, who set out to find out what happened to his missing father, and in doing so uncover a legendary treasure connected to him. Along the way, they are pursued by law enforcement and a wealthy group of Kooks, while dealing with love, conflict, friendship and money.

One reviewer suggested it is the platform's steamiest series, while another wrote: "Between its crazy adventures and endless bathing suit scenes lies one of the most fun teen dramas."
