Located on Springwood Avenue near Woolton, the pub is surrounded by the leafy green space of Clarke Gardens. The woodland walk around the pub offers visitors a chance to enjoy fresh air before or after a meal, with a relatively short route that is suitable for families with younger children.
Children can pull on their wellies and explore the trees, looking out for squirrels and collecting acorns. For those wanting a longer stroll, the walk can be extended by heading out of Springwood Avenue and across Woolton Road into Allerton Towers, where more open green space, pathways, and a children's play area await.
Food and Drink
Back at the pub, there is plenty to choose from. Allerton Hall is open from 9am until 10pm, with food served throughout the day. It is well known for its carvery, served daily from 11.30am, while the wider menu includes burgers, pies, nachos, and sandwiches. A buffet breakfast is also available, with favourites such as sausages, bacon, black pudding, and hash browns.
The venue is part of Greene King's Farmhouse Inns brand, known for its carvery and cake selection, and is one of several Greene King pubs in Merseyside, alongside The Pump House, The Arkles, and The Jolly Miller.
History and Refurbishment
Allerton Hall, a Grade II* listed building on Springwood Avenue, was first listed in 1975 and has long been a familiar sight in the area. Its 'Pub in the Park' nickname has stuck over the years, helped by its picturesque surroundings and large green space with outdoor picnic tables for warmer days.
The building underwent a major £1.6m refurbishment, reported by the ECHO in 2017, bringing new features while retaining the cosy feel of the historic pub.
Farmers and Craft Market
Later this month, the Allerton Hall Farmers and Craft Market will return, taking place next to Clarke Gardens, outside the pub. The market will run on Saturday August 29, from 11am to 4pm, with around 25 traders selling plants, gluten-free products, bakery, artworks, pet products, and more. It is one of Liverpool's many regular arts and farmers markets, with others at Lark Lane and Woolton Village.
