The Dobbies Sandyholm store is inviting young gardeners to discover the sunny and shady side of the garden at its free Little Seedlings Club this August. Taking place on Sunday, August 2, the ‘Summer Sun vs Shade’ workshop will give children the chance to learn which plants thrive in different conditions through fun, hands-on activities.
Workshop Details
August’s Little Seedlings Club at the Sandyholm store will give children the chance to discover why plants need sunlight to survive and grow, and how light becomes food. The workshop will also cover plants that love sun or shade, why plants are green and how to care for plants in the hot summer weather, before delving into games, quizzes and creative activities.
Hands-On Learning Experience
Dobbies’ Little Seedlings Club workshops offer children the opportunity to take part in hands-on learning in a group setting with other likeminded Little Seedlings. The monthly workshops at the Sandyholm store cover a range of seasonal topics designed to be fun and engaging for kids to encourage curiosity about nature. The August workshop will include an activity for children to create their own suncatcher to take home and put on display in a window.
Event Manager Comments
Dobbies’ event programme manager, Hannah Stephen, said: “The August Little Seedlings Club is a fantastic way to get children excited about spending time outdoors this summer and encourage them to learn more about how light and shade impact our gardens. Our free gardening workshops offer kids the opportunity to experience something new and take part in hands-on learning. We’re excited to welcome the Little Seedlings this summer and see each of their suncatcher creations.”
