Chris Packham has reignited his feud with Jeremy Clarkson, directly addressing the former Top Gear host on Instagram over farming practices. On Friday, July 17, 2026, the naturalist and Springwatch presenter shared a post on Instagram featuring statistics about the UK farm industry, tagging Clarkson and writing in the caption: "Tell me @jeremyclarkson1, is it really all happy smiley down on the farm?"
Fans React to Packham's Post
Shortly after posting, fans flocked to the comments section. Some criticized Packham for his approach, calling it "unhelpful" and divisive. One user wrote: "@chrisgpackham2, while I completely agree that farming needs to change, I think given the platform you have, you could do better when making posts like this. To me, this comes across as divisive and an 'us vs them' post, which to my mind is really unhelpful when I know you know farming is actually crucial to our survival and very much part of the picture when it comes to improving the environment for all species."
Another comment echoed this sentiment: "To be honest, I think it's a shame you are both clashing heads when it's the government, water companies and councils, etc., that need the attention. Currently, the attention is on both of you disagreeing with each other, which helps no one!"
Background of the Feud
Packham's Instagram post comes just days after Clarkson, who runs Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, dismissed Packham's earlier critique of the Prime Video show Clarkson's Farm as "bollocks." Packham, who appears on Celebrity Gogglebox, had previously criticized the show's portrayal of farming while watching an episode on the program.
During the episode, Packham said: "Already, right, that's not what a farm looks like. Most farms are horrible monocultures, which have been sprayed with deadly chemicals time and time again. The ground is pumped full of fertiliser, and loads of the animals are indoors in crates, being crushed and kept in the dark. That's an idealistic view of a farm, and it puts the wrong idea in people's minds. And that's only the titles!"
Clarkson's Response
Clarkson hit back at Packham's comments in his column for The Sun, writing: "It's bollocks. And Chris knows it's bollocks because, back in 2012, he came to Diddly Squat and spent the day in our woods, foraging and bird watching. If there had been some animals in a crate, being crushed, I'm sure he would have noticed and said something."
The feud highlights ongoing tensions between environmentalists and farmers over agricultural practices in the UK, with both sides drawing attention to different aspects of the industry.
