A charity shop reseller has shared a DVD collection that earned him a significant profit. Richard Kosala, who often shares his second-hand finds on Facebook, paid £8 for a complete Barbie DVD collection at a British Heart Foundation shop. He sold it the same day on his Vinted account for £110, making a £102 profit.
Details of the find
In a Facebook post on July 18, Richard revealed the purchase. "One of my greatest ever Charity Shop Finds was from the British Heart Foundation!" he wrote. "I paid £8 for this complete Barbie DVD collection and it sold the same day on my Vinted account for £110!" The pink box set featured a golden Barbie logo and included around 20 DVDs.
Richard also shared a screenshot from his eBay account showing similar vintage Barbie DVD collections listed for between £160 and £260. Despite the higher potential value, he was satisfied with the £110 sale.
Other sellers' experiences
Another commenter shared a similar success story: "Bought one of these at a general (live) auction about a year ago for £12 including fees. Turned out one disc was missing, tracked it down separately on eBay for about seven quid, slotted it in and got £109 cash from CEX."
Some Facebook users were surprised by the box set's value. One said, "I have this in my loft, was my daughters who’s now 14, so at least 10 years old." Another added, "Wow. Our girls had that set. Definitely didn't get that much for it when we cleared out!"
One person remarked, "Dream, unfortunately out of my price range now with resellers," while another noted, "I’ve been looking for this in charity shops for years for my girls as I won’t pay the ridiculous eBay and Vinted prices." Some questioned why the set was so expensive, with one asking, "Why is this so expensive? Is it literally just Barbie DVDs?"
