A homeless man in Majorca, Spain, has been left emotional after receiving a free makeover from a local hair salon. Jose Antonio, who has spent 25 years living on the streets, was invited to La Salvajeria after the owner got to know him as an unlicensed car parking attendant.
A video shared by the salon shows Jose reacting with disbelief as he sees his transformed appearance. In the clip, he is heard saying: "This is incredible, is this me? I'm so different, no-one's going to recognise me unless I tell them who I am."
The video was originally posted on Facebook and has been viewed more than 400,000 times in two days. It was also shared on YouTube by filmmaker Dr Filmgood, where it has attracted more than 10,000 views.
Jose is reported to be a former electrician and is well known to locals in Majorca. The makeover was arranged to celebrate La Salvajeria's three-year anniversary.
People who recognised Jose commented on the dramatic change. Paola Bocardo said she did not recognise him after the transformation, adding that he helps her park her car every day. Another commenter, Salva Canis, congratulated the salon and the filmmaker but questioned what would happen once the hair dye faded and his beard grew back.
