A charity dog walk, the Mutt Strutt, takes place in Glasgow this Saturday, August 8, starting at 10:30am, to raise money for Maggie's cancer centre. The event coincides with Maggie's Scotties in the City art trail and welcomes dogs and their owners to participate.
Walk details
The walk begins and ends at The Rail Yard Markets, near Kelvingrove Park in Glasgow's west end. Participants can choose between a 2.5km or 5km scenic route along the River Kelvin. After the walk, they can explore stalls offering street food and personal trinkets.
All dogs, regardless of shape or size, and their humans are welcome. Water stations will be available along the route.
Sign-up and fundraising
The entry fee is £20, which includes a free bandana for your dog and a Maggie's T-shirt. Participants are encouraged to raise at least £100 in donations from family, friends, and colleagues. Although the event is days away, there is still time to sign up and fundraise.
The funds raised will help Maggie's support those affected by cancer, making a life-changing difference. The dog and owner who raise the most money will receive a prize, and all participants get a 10% discount at Wild Paws and Claws, a Hamilton-based pet store.
About Maggie's
Maggie's Glasgow is a free cancer support centre located on the grounds of Gartnavel General Hospital. Founder Maggie Keswick Jencks used her own cancer experience to create a new type of cancer care. The first Maggie's opened in Edinburgh in 1996 and has supported over 4 million people over the past 30 years.
