The BBC will broadcast matches from the Welsh top division free-to-air this season, following an agreement to show Novia Cymru Premier games on BBC iPlayer for the next three seasons. The deal includes at least 20 matches per season, with additional coverage on the BBC Sport website.
First live match this Saturday
The first of these matches will be the clash between Barry Town United and Cardiff Met, scheduled for this Saturday, August 15, at 12:30pm. Ammanford vs Connah's Quay Nomads will also be shown live on August 22.
Carolyn Hitt, BBC Wales' head of sport, said: "This deal strengthens our commitment to provide live coverage of Welsh football, and follows our recent announcement to show all of the UEFA Wales men's international games up until Euro 2028. We hope this will be welcome news to Welsh football fans as we continue to bring sport to free-to-air television."
League restructuring and Friday fixtures
The agreement follows a restructuring of the league ahead of the new campaign, which has seen it grow from 12 to 16 clubs. Fixtures will also largely be held on Friday evenings.
Jack Sharp, Football Association Wales head of domestic leagues, added: "This agreement represents another significant step in growing the profile of the Novira Cymru Premier, enabling us to reach more supporters across Wales and the wider UK through increased free-to-air coverage. The BBC's commitment to Welsh domestic football will play an important role in increasing awareness of the league, attracting new audiences, and supporting our wider ambition to continue growing the game."
Similar deals in football broadcasting
The development comes after ITV struck a deal with Sky Sports to broadcast 10 Championship matches free-to-air between now and the conclusion of the season. That arrangement, which kicked off in January 2025, also sees selected Carabao Cup games broadcast live on the channel. The deal is set to run until the end of the 2026/27 season, with matches screened across both ITV and Sky Sports. ITV will likewise continue to air EFL highlights on both ITV4 and ITVX.
