Critical and Audience Reception

The play, a prequel to the Netflix series, has received glowing reviews since its 2023 debut. One TripAdvisor reviewer wrote: "Wow what a show, amazing special effects that make you jump out of your skin! The cast are incredible... The staging is slick and the show moves at a good pace." Another added: "That is honestly the most amazing show I have ever seen!! How they did most of those special effects I will never know!"

However, some audience members noted the theatre's limitations. Mark commented: "Where the experience falls down is the theatre itself. The Phoenix Theatre feels too small for a production of this scale and popularity. The seating is cramped and became uncomfortable after around 75 minutes." Despite this, many fans have returned multiple times; Annette wrote: "Took my kids to see this twice now... If you have seen Stranger Things or not, this is a must see show!"

Impact and Significance

The sale makes the acclaimed production more accessible, with tickets starting below £30—significantly cheaper than many other websites. The play expands the narrative of the Duffer Brothers' TV show, exploring the origins of the villain Henry Creel. It originally debuted in London before moving to Broadway.
