Callum Woodhouse, best known for his role as Tristan Farnon in the beloved Channel 5 drama All Creatures Great and Small, is embarking on an exciting new chapter in his career. The 32-year-old actor will join the cast of a brand-new stage production, Game of Thrones: The Mad King, set to debut at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon.
New Stage Role
Based on the acclaimed novels by George R.R. Martin, the play has been adapted by Duncan Macmillan and directed by Dominic Coole. Woodhouse will portray Lord Robert Baratheon, a key character in the Game of Thrones universe. The production runs from 20 July to 5 September 2026.
The Royal Shakespeare Company has announced a stellar cast, including Maxim Ays as Ser Jaime Lannister, Mariah Gale as Queen Rhaella Targaryen, Huw Parmenter as Ser Oswell Whent, Michael Shaeffer as King Aerys II Targaryen, and Richard Hansell as Grand Maester Pycelle.
Fan and Family Support
Woodhouse's mother expressed her pride with a tender comment on a group photo shared by a cast member on Instagram, writing, "There's my boy!" Another follower remarked, "I had to double take! Smashing it." Fellow All Creatures Great and Small star Rachel Shenton showed her support with a string of fire emojis, while Eleanor Tomlinson added, "Wahoooo."
Upcoming Channel 5 Thriller
Woodhouse and Tomlinson will also appear together in the new Channel 5 thriller, The Fortune. The series follows a woman whose life is thrown into turmoil after she inherits a considerable sum from a stranger. The official synopsis teases: "Her life starts to disintegrate as she becomes embroiled in the world of The Worrall Family. The patriarch Martin Worrall, played by Denis Lawson, is head of a family bound in past secrets."
The Fortune airs on Channel 5 on Tuesday, 2 June at 9pm.
