Taylor Sheridan, the creator of hit TV series Yellowstone and Lioness, is reportedly working on a film adaptation of the popular video game franchise Call of Duty. The project, first reported by Deadline, will see Sheridan co-writing the script with director Peter Berg, a longtime collaborator on films such as Hell or High Water and Wind River.
The live-action film is designed to appeal to the game's massive global fan base while also attracting new audiences. Sheridan, Berg, and David Glasser will serve as producers, with Berg also directing. This marks a surprising collaboration with Paramount, despite Sheridan recently signing a five-year deal with NBCUniversal, set to begin in 2029.
Plans for a Call of Duty movie have existed since 2015, but previous attempts were delayed indefinitely in 2020. The new project is a fresh start, with plot and casting details yet to be revealed. Berg's directorial credits include Spenser Confidential, Mile 22, Patriots Day, and Deepwater Horizon, all starring Mark Wahlberg.
Sheridan's next film, FAST, an action thriller starring Brandon Sklenar, Juliana Canfield, and LaKeith Stanfield, is scheduled for release in 2027. His Paramount shows will remain on Paramount+, but future developments will be under his NBCUniversal deal.
