The new series of Celebrity Traitors UK has launched on BBC One, with viewers already hailing it as 'one of the best TV launches of the year.' Host Claudia Winkleman returned at 9pm tonight, selecting broadcaster Jonathan Ross, comedian Alan Carr, and singer Cat Burns as the traitors.
Alan Carr's reaction to being chosen as a traitor has been described as 'TV gold' by fans on social media. One viewer wrote: 'Alan Carr's reaction to being a traitor is TV gold. This series is going to be excellent.' Another added: 'Making Alan Carr a traitor on Celebrity Traitors is honestly some of the best TV.'
The celebrity edition features 19 famous faces, including Stephen Fry, Paloma Faith, Charlotte Church, Tom Daley, Kate Garraway, and Clare Balding, all competing for a £100,000 charity prize. Filmed at Ardross Castle in the Scottish Highlands, the show follows the familiar format of murder mystery and psychological mind games.
In the first episode, the celebrities worked together to set a giant wooden horse alight in a 'Trojan horse' task, adding £15,000 to the prize pot. Tensions rose as some contestants accidentally triggered traps, while others suspected kindness might be part of a bigger plan.
The traitors later plotted their first murder in the castle's turret. The elimination twist involves finding a black lily coated in 'poison' and discreetly touching the chosen victim. The episode ended on a cliffhanger, with fans predicting Alan Carr might slip up. One viewer tweeted: 'I'd be shocked if Alan Carr makes it through 3 episodes without being banished.'
Celebrity Traitors continues tomorrow night at 9pm on BBC One, with all episodes available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
