The Rookie Star Bridget Regan Hospitalised After Food Poisoning in Prague

Bridget Regan, who plays Monica Stevens on ABC's The Rookie, was hospitalised in Prague after contracting severe food poisoning while filming the show's upcoming eighth season. Co-stars Nathan Fillion and Jenna Dewan confirmed the medical emergency in a recent interview.

Regan, 43, received treatment at a local hospital and credited the medical staff and the show's on-set medic for her recovery. 'Thanks to the incredible care of the hospital staff in Prague, our phenomenal on-set medic, and a whole lot of fluids and meds, I was patched up enough to get back on my feet,' she said in a statement.

The cast travelled to Prague last year to shoot new episodes for season eight, which premieres on 6 January. In the storyline, Fillion's character John Nolan and Dewan's Bailey Nune go abroad with Regan's defence lawyer Monica Stevens to target terrorists. Fillion described the experience as a 'blast', but noted Regan's unfortunate illness.

Regan joined The Rookie in season five as a corrupt attorney. Her character is set to have a larger role in season eight after striking an immunity deal with Nolan and Nune in the season seven finale. Fillion said his character is reluctant to work with her, calling it a 'stick in the craw'.

Regan is also known for roles in Legend of the Seeker, Batwoman, Jane the Virgin, and The Last Ship. Season eight of The Rookie airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC and streams on Hulu the next day.
