The Mandalorian Season 4 Scrapped in Favour of Film

The Mandalorian season four has reportedly been cancelled, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Instead, Disney has pivoted to a feature film titled The Mandalorian & Grogu, directed by series creator Jon Favreau. The film is scheduled for release in May 2026.

Favreau expressed excitement about bringing the characters to the big screen, stating: 'I have loved telling stories set in the rich world that George Lucas created... The prospect of bringing the Mandalorian and his apprentice Grogu to the big screen is extremely exciting.' The film is expected to repurpose scripts originally written for the fourth season.

The season three finale saw Din Djarin adopt Grogu as his son and apprentice, settling on Nevarro. The duo now work selectively for the New Republic. The film's plot will likely continue from this point, though details remain scarce.

Cast members expected to return include Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin and Grogu. Giancarlo Esposito's Moff Gideon is unlikely to return after his apparent demise. Sigourney Weaver has joined the film in an undisclosed role, having confirmed she 'met Grogu' in August 2024.

It remains unclear whether The Mandalorian & Grogu will conclude the story or lead to a potential fourth season. Fans will have to wait until May 2026 for the next chapter.
