The Capture Season 3 Start Date Confirmed By BBC

The BBC has confirmed that the third season of its hit thriller series The Capture will premiere on Sunday, 8 March 2025. The first episode will be available on BBC iPlayer from 6am and will air on BBC One at 9pm that evening. Subsequent episodes will follow the same weekly pattern on Sundays.

Holliday Grainger returns as Rachel Carey, who once again finds herself at the heart of a conspiracy involving Correction, the deepfake technology that has been central to the series. The new season picks up one year after the events of season 2, in which Carey broadcast a live deepfake of a government minister to the nation, exposing the UK intelligence service's clandestine video manipulation programme.

Creator Ben Chanan explained the long gap between seasons, saying he needed to wait for real-world technology to catch up with his fictional scenarios. “I think we went quite far with The Capture in terms of what the hell could happen next,” he said. “I almost feel sometimes like I need to take a minute and wait for the news to catch up.”

Alongside Grainger, returning cast members include Paapa Essiedu as Isaac Turner, Ben Miles, Lia Williams, Ron Perlman, and Indira Varma as Khadija Khan. New additions to the cast for season 3 include Killian Scott, Joe Dempsie, Hugh Quarshie, Linus Roache, Andrew Buchan, and Amanda Drew, though details of their characters remain under wraps.

The third season arrives almost four years after season 2 aired in 2022, and nearly three years after it was first confirmed in April 2025. The show has consistently taken long breaks between seasons, with season 2 also arriving three years after season 1.
