Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke has warned that a famous face on the 2026 series could be leaving the show for good, according to The Mirror. The former professional dancer revealed that one star has already spoken to him about quitting just six weeks into the competition.
Speaking on stage in Bath while promoting his new memoir Steps In Time, the 60-year-old told the audience: "I spoke to somebody the other day and they were like, 'It's getting a bit much'." He added: "It's somebody who's been on it not that long, a little while, and I understood that. I thought about it for a while, and I wondered if they will be on it or whether they will decide to step away."
New faces and judging rumours
His comments could refer to the several new professional dancers or new hosts who joined the series this summer. Hosts Emma Willis, Josh Widdicombe and Johannes Radebe faced backlash after taking over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman.
There have also been reports that judge Shirley Ballas may consider leaving the UK show if a full-time judging role became available on Dancing With The Stars. Last week, the 66-year-old made her judging debut in the States, where her son Mark Ballas is currently competing with former Love Island star Maura Higgins.
Veterans' pride and a keepsake
Anton does not appear to be referring to fellow judge Craig Revel Horwood, as the pair enjoy being veterans on the show. Speaking about his love for Strictly, Anton said: "I was there from Day One. Craig and I, we are the only ones left. I am so proud of that. It is one of my greatest things."
He has also spoken about his former co-star Bruce Forsyth, revealing he keeps a special waistcoat from the late presenter. During his Christmas tour in 2025, he recalled: "I bumped into Bruce, and he said, 'Oh, wear this then', and I said, 'I can't wear your waistcoat', and he said, 'Of course you can!' So this is on loan; don't tell anyone, but now I wear it every Christmas."
