Stevie Nash's future on the BBC medical drama Casualty appears to have been sealed after she made a defiant statement to an HR panel, leaving fans divided over whether she will remain at Holby ED.
Stevie Faces HR Panel Over Relationship with Junior Doctor
During Saturday's episode (June 20), audiences saw Stevie Nash (Elinor Lawless) face an HR panel after her colleague Dylan Keogh (William Beck) discovered she had been conducting a clandestine romance with his son, junior medic Matty Linlaker. Dylan reported the relationship to Clinical Lead Flynn Byron (Olly Rix), who described the accusations as amounting to 'sexual coercion'.
Stevie, Matty, and Dylan were all required to attend hearings with HR panel members. Stevie subsequently apologised to Matty, but he responded: "You're not sorry, Stevie. You've realised I've got the power to end your career and you're worried what I'm going to say, right?" When she asked what he intended to tell the panel, he remained silent.
Stevie's Defiant Statement to Panel
As the episode drew to a close, Stevie was shown in tears confiding in Flynn, confessing she did not wish to lose her position. She then faced the panel and declared: "Look, before we get started. I just wanted to apologise unreservedly for my behaviour. I have no doubt whatsoever that I've made mistakes. But, I'm a bl**dy good doctor. I deserve to be here, and I'll fight tooth and nail to make sure I stay."
This statement has left viewers questioning whether Stevie can preserve her position at the hospital or if Matty will destroy her career for spurning him.
Fan Reactions Divided Over Stevie's Future
Viewers quickly reacted to the episode, with many divided over Stevie's future on the long-running medical drama. One viewer wrote: "WE CAN'T LOSE STEVIE." Another urged: "Fight for your job, Stevie." A third chimed in: "THE WAY STEVIE ENDED THE EPISODE. I'm so happy." One fan commented: "Stevie is going to fight for her job. Hopefully, she isn't leaving now."
However, not everyone shared the excitement. One wrote: "Don't like this storyline. Add in real life, Stevie would be on suspension, I would've thought." Another simply declared: "So tired of Stevie."
Casualty is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
