Sherrie Hewson, the actress best known for playing Joyce Temple-Savage in ITV's Benidorm, has said she is waiting for the call to revive the hit show. The 75-year-old, who turned 75 in September, also expressed interest in returning to Coronation Street as Maureen Naylor.
Hewson told the Mirror that she would 'jump on the plane now' if Benidorm were brought back. 'It would be fabulous,' she said, noting the show still gets great ratings. She praised writer Derren Litten for creating a 'brilliantly written part' for her, adding that she had 'so many incredible years on that show'.
The former Celebrity Big Brother star also addressed the upcoming series of I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here!, saying she would not take part now but criticised contestants who refuse tasks. 'Don't do it if you can't do everything,' she said, adding that participants should 'just get on with it' as they are being paid.
Hewson is launching a podcast titled 'Very Very Sherrie' next month, promising a 'must-listen' show with big-name guests. She said the podcast will be 'just honest, real, and just very, very me', focusing on joy and looking to the future rather than dwelling on difficulties.
Reflecting on turning 75, Hewson said she 'couldn't care less' about her age, recalling her mother's advice: 'What's the alternative – you could be dead.' She urged others to 'get on with your life' and not moan about challenges.
