Ruth Langsford has spoken candidly about the breakdown of her marriage to Eamonn Holmes, describing herself as 'broken' and 'devastated' by the sudden end of their 27-year relationship. The 65-year-old Loose Women star, who split from Holmes in May 2024, admitted she felt blindsided and questioned whether she had missed warning signs.
In an interview with the Daily Mail, Langsford said: 'In my opinion, I had a very happy marriage. Of course you question yourself: did I miss something, was I not aware, was I too busy? But there’s no point playing the blame game.' She added: 'I just didn’t think I’d find myself here, and I wasn’t strong at the start. I was broken. Broken heart. Broken dreams.'
The couple, who co-presented ITV's This Morning from 2006 to 2021, share a 23-year-old son, Jack. Langsford credited her friends and therapy for helping her cope. 'Girlfriends are there for you come what may, but I needed a trained counsellor, someone who didn’t know me, to help me see the way through all the darkness,' she said.
Following the split, Holmes began a relationship with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, which became public in 2024. Langsford, however, is not ready for a new partner. 'I’m not ready for a new partner, I haven’t healed from the last one,' she admitted.
Despite the pain, Langsford has discovered a newfound independence. 'It has taken me a bit of time [to realise that] and I don’t know what lies ahead, but that chapter now feels quite exciting,' she said last November. 'It’s not as scary as I thought.'
