Robson Green has confirmed that filming on the new BBC crime drama Northumbria Mysteries has officially wrapped. The former Soldier, Soldier star announced the news on Instagram on Saturday morning.
"That's a WIND REEL AND PRINT (WRAP) on The Northumbria Mysteries. One of the most Joyous filming experiences of my career. What a story what a team!" he told fans.
Robson added that a transmission date was "TBC", leaving viewers wondering when the series will air on the BBC. He signed off: "A series for all the family set against the magical and jaw dropping backdrop of Northumberland. Watch this space."
Where filming took place
Cast and crew were spotted at various locations across Northumberland and the North East in recent months, including Morpeth, Alnwick, Seahouses and Rothbury. Robson and former Coronation Street star Chris Gasgoyne shot scenes at the Turks Head pub in Morpeth, and co-star Gurjeet Singh was seen elsewhere. On Thursday, production moved to The Red Lion in Earsdon, just outside Whitley Bay, with staff revealing the pub had been taken over for filming.
About the new series
In the drama, Robson plays Joe Ruby, an ex-convict and gambler with links to the criminal world, who teams up with Oxford-educated DI Rose O'Connell, played by Life on Mars actress Liz White, to solve crimes. The BBC gave the green light to the North East-based series just over a year after Vera came to an end on ITV after 14 years.
