The iconic 2000s paranormal reality programme Most Haunted, which explored multiple allegedly haunted locations across Scotland, is now available to stream for free. The show, hosted by Yvette Fielding and her husband Karl Beattie, follows a team of paranormal experts as they investigate haunted locations using psychic mediums and scientific equipment.
A Nostalgic Return to British Reality TV
Originally airing from 2002 until 2014, the show is actually still running today with all of the same cast from the original series. With 28 series so far, fans can enjoy both the iconic original episodes and newer content. The programme is widely considered part of British reality TV's golden age and is a perfect binge-watch for the October period.
Most Haunted is led by Yvette Fielding as she and her team investigate alleged paranormal activity in supposedly haunted locations across the United Kingdom and abroad. In the original series, the small team would lock themselves in castles, prisons, and manors overnight to hunt for ghosts using historical context, mediums, and scientific equipment.
Cast and History
Key cast members include Fielding's husband, producer and investigator Karl Beattie, as well as camera man Stuart Torevell. Resident spiritualist mediums like the late Derek Acorah and David Wells also appeared in the earlier seasons.
Most Haunted previously ran from 2002 until Sky Living announced its official axe in 2011. The show's rights were then returned to Yvette Fielding and Karl Beattie. The spooky reality programme later had a brief revival in 2014 where it aired on the Really Channel. In 2019, Karl announced that the channel would not air any more episodes of the show.
However, Most Haunted is still streaming in 2026 with a total of 28 seasons so far and a dedicated Most Haunted FAST channel which launched in October 2025. Series 28 began streaming on Pluto TV UK in summer 2026 and Series 29 is scheduled to premiere on October 30, 2026.
Scottish Episodes and Fan Reactions
Most Haunted featured several iconic episodes across Scotland, most notably visiting the Edinburgh Vaults, Culzean Castle, and Mary King's Close, all of which are famously haunted locations. In the first ever series, the team explored the cliffside castle of Culzean where medium Derek claims to hear the music of a legendary ghostly piper. In the second series, they moved onto the Edinburgh Vaults for their investigation of the 19 dark, damp arches beneath South Bridge associated with infamous body snatchers Burke and Hare.
During their Most Haunted Live: Edinburgh Special in 2006, the team streamed a multi-night live broadcast covering the Blair Street Vaults, Niddry Street Vaults, and a late-night vigil at Mary King's Close. Other Scottish locations across the show included Leith Hall in Aberdeenshire and Coats Memorial Church in Paisley.
Viewers discussing the show gathered on a Reddit thread to share their thoughts. One wrote: "I absolutely adored Most Haunted as a teenager, it was stupid campy fun. It was hilarious when Derek would get 'possessed' and call on Sam for guidance. But nothing beat them all running and screaming in the darkness." They added: "But when an episode was a bit more spookier I would turn off the lights and run up the stairs a little bit faster."
A second reminisced: "Most Haunted was great TV which millions loved." A third penned: "It was brilliant. Derek Acorah and Sam. Poor Stuart who always seemed to fall over/get bumped on the head etc. Absolute nonsense of course, but magnificent all the same." Another fan disagreed: "I don't think the show is totally faked, but I think they deliberately misinterpret stuff and edit the show to make things look 'more' paranormal."
Where to Watch
The original first six seasons of Most Haunted are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. However, the other 21 seasons of the show are not on the platform. Fans are able to watch other selected seasons of the show on Sky Go and Tubi.
