Peaky Blinders sequel confirms Charlie Heaton as Charles Shelby

The upcoming Peaky Blinders sequel series has confirmed another major recasting, with Stranger Things star Charlie Heaton set to play Charles Shelby, the son of Thomas and Grace.

Heaton joins Jamie Bell, who was previously announced as Erasmus 'Duke' Shelby, in the 1950s-set continuation written by Steven Knight. The series follows the events of the film The Immortal Man and sees Duke leading a new generation of the Shelby family.

Charles, who had a fractured relationship with his father and was largely raised by Lizzie, severed all ties with the Peaky Blinders gang after fighting in World War II. The character's logline teases: 'Having fought a violent war, much of it behind enemy lines, Charles Shelby is now embracing normality. He hasn't seen his half-brother Duke in years. But can you ever escape your own blood?'

Charles was previously portrayed by several actors in the original series, including Billy Marwood, Jensen Clarke, Billy Jenkins, and most recently Alfie Thomas Bland in The Immortal Man.

The new series also stars Jessica Brown Findlay, Lashana Lynch, and Lucy Karczewski, though their roles remain undisclosed. Set a decade after World War II, the show follows the race to rebuild Birmingham as a city of opportunity and jeopardy.

Peaky Blinders will premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on Netflix internationally.
