TV fans on Reddit have named Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire the best show of 2026, with all three seasons now available to stream on Netflix.
The endorsement came after a Reddit user asked fellow TV enthusiasts for their top five series of 2026 so far, welcoming recommendations for returning shows as well as new ones. The user wrote: "Hey, everyone, the weekend is here, and I need some new series suggestions. Suggest to me your top five series of 2026 so far, including continuation of old series. I really need a good new series to binge-watch and forget about the outside world for this weekend."
Fans praise the third season
Among the standout replies was a resounding endorsement for the show's third season, subtitled The Vampire Lestat, which is available to stream on Netflix now. One user recommended it enthusiastically, and another quickly agreed: "Came here to say this! My favourite of this year!"
Based on The Vampire Chronicles book series by Anne Rice, the show shares its source material with the beloved 1994 film of the same name, though it is an entirely separate production with no connection to it whatsoever.
Cast and storyline
The series stars Jacob Anderson as Louis de Pointe du Lac and Sam Reid as Lestat de Lioncourt. Seasons one and two adapt Anne Rice's debut novel, while the newly released third season turns to the second book in the series for its story. Looking further ahead, the show has already been commissioned for a fourth season, to be titled Anne Rice's Queen of the Damned, which will adapt the events of the third novel.
At its heart, the series is a dark and deeply personal story about two vampires, Louis de Pointe du Lac and Lestat de Lioncourt, and the complicated, often destructive relationship between them. The narrative is largely told through Louis's own recollections, framed around a series of interviews he gives to journalist Daniel Molloy, played by Eric Bogosian.
Themes and availability
Louis, a 145-year-old vampire, contacts Daniel to revisit an unpublished interview the pair conducted 49 years earlier. Their first meeting in 1973 ended badly, with Daniel being attacked, but their second interview ultimately became a published book, released without Louis's consent. Lestat, meanwhile, is a French vampire who arrives in New Orleans and becomes captivated by Louis. It is Lestat who turns Louis into a vampire, and he later forms a rock band also called The Vampire Lestat in direct response to Daniel's book being made public.
The show delves more deeply into the queer themes present in Anne Rice's original writing than the 1994 film did, where such elements were only hinted at. It also tackles weightier subjects, including race and abuse, and has earned widespread critical praise for its writing, costumes, soundtrack, and the strength of its lead performances.
All three seasons are available to stream on Netflix right now. Viewers in the UK can also watch the show free of charge and without adverts on BBC iPlayer, as long as they hold a valid TV licence.
