Actor Ricky Schroder has faced criticism over his Instagram tribute to Dolly Parton, which many fans described as 'tone deaf' and 'foul'. The post, shared hours after Parton's death on August 25, included a photo of Schroder with the singer and a caption that took a swipe at her political views.
In the caption, Schroder wrote: "I didnt agree with her advocating for Transgender & Covid Vaccine support…but Loved her anyway. Thank you for choosing me Dolly to be your Movie Daddy."

Social media users quickly responded with criticism. One Instagram user commented: "Imagine being the first (and probably only) person in the whole world to post something negative about Dolly. NOT COOL." Another said: "Wow. When even Trump gives a better tribute than you, it’s bad."

Parton's Final Days and Legacy
Parton died on August 25 after a brief battle with cancer, as confirmed by her team. Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced the news in a video message planned by the singer. He said: "Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton, because after a life wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest."
In the days before her death, Parton gave an interview with People, released on August 21, where she mentioned health issues: "I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn't pay attention to when I was watching over Carl." She added: "You know me, as I've often said, I've dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve."
Burial Plans
Parton will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Memorial Park, beside her husband Carl Dean, who died in 2025. The mausoleum also houses other country legends such as George Jones, Tammy Wynette, Marty Robbins, Little Jimmy Dickens, and Porter Wagoner.
