Celtic supporters are growing increasingly frustrated over the club's net spend and lack of defensive signings, with just days left in the transfer window. Rangers fans, meanwhile, are calling for manager Derek McInnes to be sacked despite a narrow win over Aberdeen.
Celtic's spending concerns
Celtic have spent £30m on four signings, but fears over depth and net spend are festering. David Beattie, Rothesay, said: "I wrote here some weeks ago to watch out for Celtic's net spend to determine how much ambition is afoot in the club to not only improve domestically but importantly in Europe we'll here we are once again with just a few days in the window and they are failing miserably no midfield general or the two central defenders still badly needed and no sign of a left back or goalkeeper even worse negligence than before after finally getting the forwards in we badly needed but they in turn need service and stability at the back to give the team stability and confidence to finally compete in Europe, beggars belief."
Kenny Wilson, Moffat, emailed: "A good three points for the champions after Tuesday nights long humiliating night. Lots of positives with Oxlade-Chamberlain having his best game in a Celtic shirt. Duran and Baur again look good and Hassan when fully fit will be a nightmare for defenders. Signing are definitely needed especially in defence so hopefully the board get their finger out."
Goalkeeper concerns
Stephen Mulhern, Dumbarton, said: "I’m astonished that Celtic are seemingly interested in bringing in goalkeeper Sam Johnstone by all accounts he suffers from problems with his shoulder. I’m sorry I’ve seen this movie before with Kasper Schmeichel, almost costing us the league with a similar problem and we should prioritise in signing Blackburn's Toth instead."
Rangers' win and fan anger
It's sweet relief for Derek McInnes after a first league win but a Light Blues diehard believes the match officials in the Granite City let their team down. Chris Lowe, Yoker, said: "Great result for Rangers getting a much needed win. But how does the referee and the assistant referee on the line both missed the two handed push and Nisbet being a yard offside? It shouldn’t have needed VAR likewise with the player already on a booking giving the penalty away but no second card A poor show from these officials once again involving Rangers."
Jamie Thompson, Glasgow, said: "This Rangers team is shocking. watching this garbage. passing ball back and back some more. The Ibrox board has to sort this situation out now. McInnes has to go, Rangers supporters deserve better than this garbage. Ally McCoist, Rangers man."
Ticket allocation row
Ticket-gate has fans up in arms and Martin O'Neill's take on it has led to a stinging barb aimed towards Celtic. Alfie Mullin, London, said: "Martin O'Neill can say what he wants about the ticket allocation, for the League Cup quarter final. The fact is, if his club's fans didn't invade the pitch, in the Scottish Cup game, at Ibrox last season, the trouble that followed, would not have happened."
Steve McGregor, Australia, said: "There is a solution to the Old Firm ticket allocation problem. Remove Rangers fans from the pokey wee corner of Parkhead and put them behind one of the goals or somewhere they can be seen by the TV cameras. Then they can have the Broomloan Rd stand. They would only need to pay for the extra policing costs to stop yet another pitch buy their troublesome fans."
Kilmarnock fears and refereeing gripes
Kilmarnock fans are fearing the worst about Neil McCann and Billy Dodd's kamikaze style after a third consecutive Premiership defeat. James McClean, Rothesay, said: "Billy Bowie must get rid of Laurel and Lardie before there is no way back for us. Saturday was just the lowest of the low, they haven’t a clue, this is why they were sacked at Dundee, reluctant to change their way of playing, at the moment we’re a Championship team."
Michael McAlinden emailed: "Why are referees speaking to players prior to free kicks and corners when they don’t do this anywhere else on the park? They are there to referee, not advise. It is either a penalty, free kick or no infringement. Let the players get on with it and then make the call."
