Netflix is set to add the classic 15-season medical drama ER to its library in its entirety on Sunday, February 8, 2026. The series, which originally aired from 1994 to 2009, consists of 331 episodes and is widely regarded as one of the best medical dramas of all time.
ER follows the inner life of the emergency room at Cook County General Hospital, a fictionalised version of the real Cook County Hospital in Chicago. The show launched George Clooney to superstardom and featured Noah Wyle as the longest-serving cast member, playing John Carter, a medical student who evolves into a teacher over the course of the series.
Other original cast members include Anthony Edwards as Dr Mark Greene, Sherry Stringfield as Dr Susan Lewis, Eriq La Salle as Dr Peter Benton, and Julianna Margulies as Nurse Carol Hathaway. Later additions to the cast included Linda Cardellini, Goran Višnjić, and Alex Kingston.
Fans have praised the show for its realistic portrayal of medical emergencies and character development. One viewer commented on IMDb: 'This show inspired me so much that I decided I wanted to work in an emergency department and that's exactly what I did. I'm now a nurse.' Another wrote: 'This show is without a doubt, the best one on television.'
The addition of ER to Netflix comes as viewers await the UK release of HBO's The Pitt, which also stars Noah Wyle. The Pitt has received a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.8 score on IMDb.
