Masked Singer Unveils Biggest Twist Yet with Bands Joining New Series

The Masked Singer is set to introduce its biggest ever change for the upcoming seventh series, with two bands joining the lineup for the first time in the show's history. In the first episode, viewers will be tasked with guessing the celebrity identity of Goldfish, who fronts a group called No Trout. The second programme will feature Emperor Penguin, who leads a band named Antarctic Funkeys.

Host Joel Dommett has teased that the new series will see more unmaskings than ever before. A source told The Sun: 'As The Masked Singer heads into series seven in the UK, bosses are keeping everyone on their toes by upping the ante on clues and throwing in even more unmaskings. The franchise’s first ever bands are going to blow everyone’s minds – but viewers will be left scratching their heads as to whether the band is a big clue or not.'

The source added: 'The celebrities hiding inside might run solo in their real lives, or they might be part of some sort of group, or could even be exactly what it says on the tin – an actual frontman or woman. Viewers are going to be more bamboozled than ever but it’s going to be lots of fun.' Viewers can expect four unmaskings in the first two episodes, with Goldfish and Emperor Penguin being extra celebrities on top of the 12-person lineup.

The panel of judges, including Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan, and Maya Jama, will return to try to identify the masked celebrities, with Joel Dommett back as presenter. The new series starts in January on ITV1 and ITVX, while a Christmas special airs on Boxing Day at 7.30pm.

In other news, Davina McCall recently married her long-term partner Michael Douglas in a small ceremony at Marylebone Town Hall last Friday. The couple, who got engaged after three months, invited around ten close friends and relatives. A source said: 'Their wedding was perfect, exactly what they wanted. They’ve been through a huge amount in recent months, with Davina’s health, and it just felt right to formalise their marriage.'
