ITV Daytime Shake-Up: Lorraine and Loose Women Cut to Seasonal Schedules

ITV's daytime schedule is undergoing a major shake-up, with both Lorraine and Loose Women being reduced to 30-week seasonal schedules and episodes cut to 30 minutes. The changes, attributed to budget cuts, have resulted in the shows being pulled from air for several weeks.

On the final episode of Loose Women on 6 March, presenter Kaye Adams confirmed the show would be off air for some time. The programme initially made way for the Cheltenham Festival but will remain on a scheduled break before returning next month. Episode lengths have been halved, meaning the show has lost over 70 per cent of its previous yearly airtime.

Lorraine is receiving similar treatment, with presenter Lorraine Kelly addressing the changes on Instagram: 'I will be off for a good few weeks... We now do 30 weeks a year.' Both shows have yet to confirm return dates, though Lorraine is expected back in April.

ITV's managing director Kevin Lygo said in May 2025 that the cuts will 'generate savings which will allow us to reinvest across the programme budget in other genres.' He added that daytime remains 'a really important part of what we do.'

Coleen Nolan of Loose Women expressed sadness over the changes, telling The Mirror: 'It's heartbreaking to see some of my colleagues not knowing what they're going to do. Many of them have young families and mortgages.'

In response to the schedule changes, Good Morning Britain has been extended by 30 minutes, now running from 6am to 9:30am daily, and until 10am when Lorraine is off air.
