Lee Mack Stunned by Unprecedented 1% Club Moment
Lee Mack stunned by never-seen-before TV moment

Host Lee Mack witnessed a television first on Saturday's episode of The 1% Club that left him, and the audience, in stitches. The popular ITV quiz show, which returned to screens on November 8, was the scene of an utterly unexpected and hilarious moment just minutes into the broadcast.

The Moment That Stopped the Show

The incident unfolded after a contestant named Cormac was eliminated on the very first question. The puzzle showed a picture of a baby and some steps, with the correct answer being 'baby steps'. Cormac, who had recently graduated from university, admitted he panicked and gave the wrong answer. As is customary, host Lee Mack asked if he had anyone supporting him in the audience.

Cormac revealed he was there with his brother, Cillian. The camera then immediately panned to Cillian, who was caught in a moment of pure vanity, using his phone's camera to fix his hair. Realising he was on the big screen, Cillian was heard saying, "Oh wait hold on."

Lee Mack's Hilarious Reaction

A visibly shocked Lee Mack exclaimed, "You have got to be kidding me!" as the studio erupted with laughter. After Cillian offered a quick "Sorry," Lee declared, "That's incredible we've never had that on the show before! 'Wait a minute if it's my close up!'" Pushing the comedy further, Mack then asked Cillian, "Do you always preen yourself like that?" to which the unabashed brother simply replied, "Yeah."

This light-hearted chaos provided a stark contrast to the show's typically tense atmosphere, where contestants battle through logic-based puzzles. The game starts with a question 90% of the public could answer, working down to a final brain-teaser that only 1% can solve.

A Tough Week for Contestants

The amusing incident comes on the heels of a particularly challenging episode the previous week. In that instalment, all three finalists failed to answer the ultimate 1% question correctly, leaving the prize pot untouched. The question involved spotting errors in a set of fictional terms and conditions, and each finalist provided a different, incorrect answer.

Lee Mack's The 1% Club continues to offer a unique blend of high-stakes quizzing and unexpected entertainment, airing every Saturday at 8pm on ITV1.
