The current series of Grand Designs concludes tonight, Wednesday 21 October, with presenter Kevin McCloud having already launched a new Channel 4 programme about classic cars.
The final episode looks back at a 2017 build by Andrew and Margretta, who constructed a home designed to store summer warmth in earth banks for colder months. The show's social media post noted that six years after the last visit, the team returns to see if the experiment worked.
Viewer Reactions to Revisited Episodes
Some viewers expressed frustration with recent revisited episodes, with one commenting on social media: "Another pointless edition of #granddesigns." Another said: "Always disappointing seeing 'new' @granddesigns and its the revisited version."
Despite the series ending, Grand Designs will continue in its usual Wednesday 9pm slot on Channel 4 with a repeat episode next week.
Kevin McCloud's Classic Car Series
McCloud's new six-part series, Kevin McCloud's Classic Car Road Trips, launched earlier this month. In it, he drives classic cars through their countries of origin, exploring local culture.
Channel 4 described the show as exploring each car's heritage and design, with McCloud immersing himself in local communities, culture and cuisine. He travelled from Cannes to Monaco in France, across Sweden, through Italy's medieval hilltops, and explored the Peak District, Northern Ireland and Germany.
McCloud said of the series: "This is an exciting new venture for me. A chance to explore how classic vehicles - themselves time-space machines that connect us to our collective past - can embody and tell the stories of a place, perhaps a year, and an exciting moment."
Viewers welcomed the new show, with one writing: "Kevin, I would watch you talk about potatoes if that were your chosen topic. Looking forward to this." Another added: "A chance to watch Kevin jaunt around Europe in classic cars, count me in!!"
Grand Designs is available to watch on Channel 4.
