Katherine Ryan has revealed the nickname she uses for James Acaster, her fellow comedian, during an appearance on BBC's The One Show. She disclosed that she has his number saved in her phone as "Violet's boyfriend," a reference to her daughter's childhood crush on the comedian.
Revelation on The One Show
While promoting her new memoir, Firstborn Daughter, on the show broadcast on October 21, Katherine Ryan discussed Acaster's rising fame from his participation in the latest season of The Celebrity Traitors. She noted that her daughter, Violet, was an "early spotter of James Acaster as a crush" after meeting him as a very young child.
"I've noticed the nation are really pining for him in the comments and Violet from three years old, four years old, she met James and she said 'I'm going to marry him one day'," Katherine shared. She added that she has saved James' number as "Violet's boyfriend" ever since, joking, "Which is inappropriate but you know."
Traitors Talk Cut Short
The One Show hosts Alex Jones and Vernon Kay quickly steered the conversation away from The Celebrity Traitors, with Vernon insisting: "We can't talk about Traitors because we end up tripping ourselves up and giving out spoilers." Katherine pressed him on how he knew spoilers, prompting Vernon to admit he didn't actually know any before comically shaking his head at the camera.
The next episode of The Celebrity Traitors is due to air on October 22 at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer, following a cliffhanger that saw Maya Jama and James Acaster attempting to murder in plain sight. They needed to make someone yawn to utter the words "Am I boring you?" to seal their fate, with Jerry Hall and Ross Kemp as the only other Faithfuls in the room.
