Trump urges Burnham to drill 'full blast' in North Sea gas row

Donald Trump has urged Prime Minister Andy Burnham to drill "full blast" for gas in the North Sea, following approval of extraction plans at the Jackdaw gas field. The Prime Minister's decision, described as "pragmatic" and a "common-sense choice," came after months of Government indecision and has drawn praise from Red Wall Labour MPs while sparking concern among climate activists and left-wing backbenchers.

Trump's Praise for North Sea Drilling

In a post on his social media platform, Trump wrote: "Great news for the wealth and prosperity of the United Kingdom, and the wonderful region of Aberdeen. The UK has started drilling in the North Sea, one of the greatest and most prosperous areas of OIL in the World." He added: "They should go FULL BLAST!!! This will make the UK very wealthy again. TAKE DOWN THE COSTLY AND RIDICULOUS WINDMILLS!"

The approval was welcomed by Red Wall Labour MPs who urged Burnham to double down on oil extraction to secure Britain's energy. However, the move "went down like a led balloon" among climate activists and could lead to a revolt from left-wing Labour backbenchers.

Viral Video Raises Questions

The praise comes as Trump is feared to be in "major mental decline" after being filmed "waving to his imaginary friends" outside the White House. The 80-year-old stopped as he walked towards a waiting helicopter at the Presidential mansion, footage shows. He appeared to wave, look around for a few seconds, and finally salute before getting on the helicopter. As the camera pans out, nobody appears to be stood in the direction he was waving at.

The clip has since been widely shared on social media. US Political influencer Brian Krassenstein said: "I now have absolutely no doubt that Donald Trump has major mental decline." Sharing the footage on Twitter, he added: "Just think for one minute if Joe Biden had waved into the abyss like Trump just did here. Imagine what Fox News would be saying. There is absolutely no rational explanation for this that I can see. How about you?"

Reactions and Next Steps

Former Sky News presenter Kay Burley said: "Kudos to the camera operator." One social media user quipped: "Donald Trump has imaginary friends, only he can see them!" Another suggested: "Trump has always waved to an imaginary crowd that the cameras never show. For narcissists, it's all about creating an aggrandized self, a persona, a narrative — that he is popular, special, celebrated, and idolized."

Someone else said: "Fresh update in my daily corner 'Trump's Brain Turns to Mush': In a video filmed yesterday (October 20), Trump was seen stopping in front of the presidential helicopter and waving toward... no one. Twice!!!" The Jackdaw gas field, located under the North Sea, will now be worked following the approval.
