Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he has been diagnosed with cancer. During the latest episode of his TV show Clarkson's Farm, the 66-year-old shared the devastating news with those closest to him.
Revealing the Diagnosis
The episode shows Mr Clarkson discussing the harvest with farm manager Charlie Ireland and farm hand Kaleb Cooper when he suddenly shares the news. "I've got cancer," he told the pair. "I've known since May," he added. "I had a medical, you remember back in May. I disappeared off the other week and I had a biopsy and it is cancer and it's aggressive, but it's really early so the treatment will be, you know."
Surgery and Recovery
After his initial surgery, he told Mr Cooper that he had "10 per cent" of his prostate removed via ultrasound. "The prostate, 10 per cent of it's dead," he said. "The 10 per cent where the cancer is." Mr Clarkson said that he is "fine standing up" after the surgery, but sitting on a tractor is uncomfortable.
Reflections on the Year
He later reflects on the year with Mr Ireland, Mr Cooper, Gerald Cooper and his girlfriend, Lisa Hogan. "So we started the year and I had coronary heart disease and ended it with me with cancer," he said. "We can dwell as much as we like on all the bad things that have happened on the farm but I think it is better now at the end of the year to focus on things that have happened that are good."
Treatment Complications
Clarkson said that he was going for blood tests. He subsequently adds, "Come on cheer up, it probably did work." The former Top Gear host ends the season speaking to viewers from a hospital bed. He revealed that complications had arisen during his treatment. "So we started season five with me in a hospital bed and we are at the end of season five and I'm back in a hospital bed." He ended by sharing heartbreaking news. "What I wanted to say was if this is all successful I'll see you for season six and if it isn't I won't. Take care everyone," he said.
