James Blunt has addressed rumours of a feud with his Celebrity Traitors co-star Romesh Ranganathan, insisting the pair get on "very very well" despite a tense finale showdown.
The You're Beautiful singer made it to the final roundtable of the BBC One show before he was axed by fellow-faithfuls Ranganathan and Sebastian "Bash" Croft.
Speaking on Hits Radio, Blunt said: "Romesh is a very very sweet human being, and I promise he and I get on very very well."
Last-Minute Suspicion
Comedian Ranganathan became suspicious of Blunt at the last minute after the singer dismissed Traitor Maya Jama's parting comments before she was banished. Jama had said, "Good luck, you're going to need it!" - something Ranganathan had taken as a warning that there might still be a Traitor in their midst.
After Blunt claimed it was "nothing", Ranganathan voted to banish him, before changing his mind when Bash talked him out of it and banishing Kenny instead. In the next round, Bash and Romesh voted for endgame, meaning they would have won alongside Blunt. But Blunt, who appeared angry at coming under Romesh's suspicion, voted for a further banishment - which resulted in his own exit.
Charity Donation Revealed
Blunt also revealed Ranganathan donated some money to his chosen charity, Blue Marine Foundation, considering how close Blunt came to getting the prize pot alongside him.
Asked if Ranganathan donated any money to his preferred charity, he said: "He has done. I was going to save that for a conversation I was having with him, but you know, if you're going to mention it, he absolutely has. It's called the Blue Marine Foundation."
Ranganathan, 48, and actor Croft, 24, divided their £83,000 winnings between Choose Love and the Refugee Council. Croft revealed his share will go to Choose Love, an organisation he previously volunteered for.
Winners Reflect on Victory
Croft said: "The money will be going to refugees and displaced people, but predominantly queer refugees and displaced people, and they are just the best organisation. I am playing for the Refugee Council, helping displaced people who need help, and it's a cause that's very close to my heart, so I'm very, very grateful for this."
Reflecting on his victory alongside Ranganathan, Croft became emotional and said: "That was just incredible. This might actually be the best day of my life."
Ranganathan admitted he hoped his family would be proud of his achievement, particularly his 11-year-old son, Charlie, who encouraged him to sign up for The Celebrity Traitors, hosted by 54-year-old Claudia Winkleman. He said: "I just really hope my mum's proud, and also my youngest son, Charlie, who wanted me to come on the show. Dad won."
The funnyman then joked in his trademark deadpan fashion: "Please show me some respect."
