ITV's 'Gone': Eve Myles Stars in New Detective Drama

ITV has sent a thrill through the world of British television with the announcement of a brand new, six-part psychological police drama titled 'Gone'.

The series, which promises to be a gripping mystery, will feature the acclaimed Welsh actress Eve Myles alongside the esteemed David Morrissey, known for his powerful performances in shows like 'Sherwood' and 'Daddy Issues'.

A Stellar Cast and a Chilling Premise

In 'Gone', Eve Myles takes on the role of Detective Annie Cassidy, described as a super bright and gutsy investigator. Opposite her, David Morrissey will portray Michael Polly, the local Headmaster of a prestigious private school.

The drama's synopsis sets a tense scene: when Michael Polly's wife, Sarah, disappears, this upstanding and inscrutable pillar of the community finds himself as the prime suspect. Detective Annie Cassidy is assigned to the case, and a compulsive game of cat and mouse begins as she works to chip away at his polished veneer to uncover the truth.

The series is set against the evocative backdrops of a private school, a foreboding forest, and the quiet sprawl of Bristol.

Inspired by Real-Life Expertise

Adding a layer of authenticity, the fictional series is partly inspired by the book "To Hunt a Killer" and the distinguished careers of former Detective Superintendent Julie Mackay and ITV Crime Correspondent Robert Murphy.

Both Mackay and Murphy are serving as consultants on the project, ensuring the police procedural elements are grounded in reality.

The creative team behind the camera is equally impressive. The series is penned by acclaimed writer George Kay ('The Long Shadow', 'Hijack', 'Lupin') and directed by Richard Laxton ('Mrs Wilson', 'The Thief, His Wife and the Canoe').

Cast and Crew Enthusiasm

The stars of the show have expressed their excitement about the project. Eve Myles shared her thrill at playing the intuitive Detective Annie Cassidy, noting that her character has "met her match" in David Morrissey's formidable Michael Polly.

David Morrissey also conveyed his delight, stating he was happy to be reunited with writer George Kay and to be working for the first time with the "amazing Eve Myles" and director Richard Laxton.

The ensemble cast is rounded out by a host of talented actors including Emma Appleton, Jennifer Macbeth, Arthur Hughes, and Rupert Evans, promising a rich and compelling narrative.

'Gone' will air on ITV and STV and will be available for streaming on ITVX and STV Player upon its release.
