House of the Dragon Season 3 has arrived, bringing a host of new characters to the Targaryen civil war. The eight-episode season premiered on June 21 in the USA and June 22 in the UK, airing weekly on HBO and Sky Atlantic.
New Cast Members Join the Dance of the Dragons
James Norton, known for Grantchester and Happy Valley, joins as Ser Ormund Hightower, head of House Hightower and nephew of Otto Hightower. Norton's other credits include McMafia, War and Peace, and King & Conqueror.
Tom Cullen, Welsh actor from Downton Abbey, plays Luthor Largent, former commander of the City Watch under King Viserys I. Tommy Flanagan, famed for Sons of Anarchy and Braveheart, portrays Roderick Dustin, Lord of Barrowton.
Dan Fogler, Broadway star and Fantastic Beasts actor, plays Torrhen Manderly. Joplin Sibtain (Andor) is Jon Roxton, and Barry Sloane (The Bay) plays Adrian Redfort of Rhaenyra's Queensguard.
Returning Cast and Plot
Key returning actors include Matt Smith as Daemon Targaryen, Emma D'Arcy as Rhaenyra, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, and Steve Toussaint as Corlys Velaryon. The season follows the Greens yielding to the Blacks after Alicent and Rhaenyra's agreement, while Sharako Lohar (Abigail Thorn) battles Corlys to break the Gullet blockade.
According to the Express, the season promises "ruthless political scheming" as factions vie for the Iron Throne. The full returning cast includes Rhys Ifans, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, and others.
