Mia McKenna-Bruce has revealed that Sam Mendes’ upcoming four-part Beatles biopic is “absolutely next level,” despite the intense secrecy surrounding the project. The actors are not allowed to take hard copies of scripts beyond the set, but McKenna-Bruce, who plays Maureen Starkey, the late ex-wife of Ringo Starr (Barry Keoghan), says a read-through with Mendes and the cast—including Paul Mescal, Harris Dickinson, and Joseph Quinn—was “really emotional, because the scripts are so beautiful.”
Filming has been ongoing since November 2025 and is expected to continue into late 2026. McKenna-Bruce describes the first time she saw the four actors in full Beatles costume as “phenomenal,” adding that she didn’t even recognise them. “They’ve done it beautifully in getting it bang on for the Beatles, but still holding on to the essences of the boys themselves,” she said. The films, titled “The Beatles — A Four-Film Cinematic Event,” are set for release in April 2028.
In the meantime, McKenna-Bruce stars in “Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials,” a three-part Netflix series launching on 15 January. She plays Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, a witty aristocrat investigating a friend’s death at a country house party in 1920s England. The series, adapted by “Broadchurch” creator Chris Chibnall, also features Helena Bonham Carter, whom McKenna-Bruce calls “actual human gold.”
This marks McKenna-Bruce’s “first proper lead role” since her breakout in “How to Have Sex,” which won the BAFTA Rising Star award. She noted that playing an aristocratic sleuth was a “new challenge,” requiring her to learn “big chunks of dialog word for word” and master period etiquette. The series ends on a note that suggests potential continuation, and McKenna-Bruce says she would “love to be involved” in further adaptations of Christie’s Bundle Brent stories.
