Emmerdale Fans 'Rumble' Café Robbery Culprit, Not Kev Townsend
Emmerdale Fans 'Rumble' Café Robbery Culprit

Emmerdale viewers are convinced that Nicola King and Ross Barton orchestrated the robbery of Café Main Street to frame Kev Townsend and drive him away from the village. The July 8 episode of the ITV soap featured a mysterious break-in, with a figure clad in black forcing entry, ransacking the premises, and stealing the cash box.

Kev Townsend's Troubled Return

Last month, Kev Townsend (Chris Coghill) returned to the village after being kidnapped by his estranged son, Lewis Barton (Bradley Riches). Kev's ex-girlfriend, Kylie (Pippa Fulton), had confined him to her bedroom until a stolen piece of jewellery was returned. Ross Barton (Michael Parr) found Lewis and uncovered the paternity secret, then knocked Kev unconscious and handed him back to Kylie.

Lewis was freed unharmed and later learned that Kev is his biological father after Kev performed Boyzone's 1995 single "Father and Son." Stunned, Lewis left the Dales to live with his adoptive father but returned on Wednesday to confront the situation.

Conflict with Nicola King

Upon his return, Lewis discovered that Kev had been clashing with his business partner, Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), over the placement of his bakery van, A Slice of Kev-en, outside the café. Kev revealed he had changed his surname from Townsend to Barton to forge a stronger bond with Lewis. Despite Lewis's initial confusion, he agreed to start afresh, though Ross remained skeptical.

Kev expressed frustration with Nicola's behaviour, saying: "I'm sick of people thinking the worst of me and not giving me a chance. Gobby over there needs to be taken down a peg or two."

The Robbery and Fan Theories

As night fell, a figure broke into the café, hurled furniture, used a crowbar to sweep items onto the floor, and stole the cash box. Viewers are adamant that Nicola and Ross staged the burglary to implicate Kev. On Facebook, one fan posted: "Seems very obvious to me who's robbed and trashed the café, and it's not Kev." Another added: "I think Ross."

Other comments included: "I think it's Ross and Kev get the blame and Lewis tells him to leave," and "I bet Nic asked Ross to do it, so he will go." Another viewer suggested: "Prob Ross and Nicola to frame Kev, get him out of the village away from Lewis."

Emmerdale airs weekdays on ITV and ITVX.
