Elizabeth Olsen made a striking appearance on the red carpet in New York City this Saturday, showcasing a bold fashion choice for the screening of her upcoming romantic comedy Eternity.
A Night of Style and Stars
The 36-year-old actress, who headlines the film alongside Miles Teller and Callum Turner, opted for a daring ensemble. She wore a risqué bra top, which she layered under an oversized black blazer. She completed the look with a matching pair of cropped trousers, creating a chic and modern red carpet statement.
Her co-stars also brought their style A-game to the event. Miles Teller, 38, looked sharp in a charcoal suit paired with a navy blue shirt and was accompanied by his wife, Keleigh, who wore an elegant white cape-style gown. Meanwhile, Callum Turner, 35, chose a stylish brown oversized suit for the photo calls with his fellow cast members.
Behind the Scenes of Eternity
The film at the centre of the event, Eternity, is produced by A24 and directed by David Freyne from a script by Pat Cunnane. Scheduled for release on November 26, the movie presents a unique romantic dilemma. Olsen's character, Joan, finds herself in the afterlife having to choose between her first love, played by Callum Turner, and her husband, portrayed by Miles Teller.
Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who stars as Anna, Larry's afterlife coordinator, also attended the screening, looking incredible in a fitted pink gown.
Olsen's Theatrical Stance Sparks Online Debate
Beyond the glamour of the premiere, Elizabeth Olsen has recently found herself at the centre of a different kind of spotlight. The actress revealed in an interview with InStyle that she will only commit to films that are guaranteed a theatrical release, dismissing projects destined solely for streaming services.
'If a movie is made independently and only sells to a streamer, then fine. But I don't want to make something where that's the end-all,' she stated. Olsen emphasised the importance of communal experiences, saying, 'I think it's important for people to gather as a community, to see other humans, be together in a space.'
This position, however, has not been universally praised. A fierce debate erupted on X, formerly Twitter, with many users criticising what they perceived as hypocrisy. Critics were quick to point out that one of her most famous roles was in WandaVision, a series that streamed exclusively on Disney+. Others noted her previous work in Netflix films like Kodachrome and His Three Daughters.
One user scathingly remarked, 'How refreshing to hear an A-lister champion the sanctity of the theatrical experience from atop a mountain of Marvel money,' while another speculated, 'Translation: I need more money and streaming isn't paying enough.'
