EastEnders: Sean confronts Amy's groomer Craig Ingram

EastEnders' Sean Slater has fulfilled his promise to Amy Mitchell's late mother, Roxy, by taking action against her groomer Craig Ingram in tonight's episode. The returning character, who once believed he was Amy's father, confronted the former police officer after Amy ran off with him.

Sean's plan to lure Amy to hospital

Having agreed to help find Amy (Ellie Dadd) after she disappeared with Craig, Sean (Rob Kazinsky) arranged for her stepmother Denise (Diane Parish) to film a video that made it seem as though she was dying. When Amy saw the video, she rushed to the hospital, giving Sean time to slip away and confront Craig (Matthew James-Bailey).

Just before the episode's closing duff duffs, Sean pulled open Craig's car door and stole his keys, preventing him from leaving. The episode ended before viewers could see what Sean had planned for Craig, though it is expected to be more than a friendly greeting given his recent promise to Roxy (Rita Simon).

Sean's promise to Roxy revealed

In last night's episode, Sean told his mother, Jean (Gillian Wright), that he had made a promise to Roxy the last time he saw her. He said he had vowed to take care of Amy and ensure she was okay, no matter the cost.

Roxy Mitchell was Amy's mother. In 2009, she was in an on-and-off relationship with Sean when she slept with Jack Branning (Scott Maslen). When Roxy discovered she was pregnant, she pretended the child was Sean's, and the two married. Sean did not learn until Christmas that Amy was not his daughter.

In a dramatic New Year showdown, Sean drove to a frozen lake and walked to the middle. Roxy followed him, and both plunged into the water when the ice broke. Both survived, but only Roxy saw Sean escape. She encouraged him to leave.

Fans react to Sean's confrontation

Sean was not seen again until 2019, when he returned looking for Roxy, only to find she had died a year earlier. At the time, he visited her grave, put his wedding ring back on, and apologised for "messing things up with Amy".

Fans are eager to see what happens between Sean and Craig, especially when he learns that the former copper struck Amy. One said: "Sean may be relatively calm by his standards for now with Craig, but if he founds out PC Nonce struck Amy, all bets are off."

Another added: "! So glad Sean's cornered Craig, hopefully Amy won't be able to run off with him again, like she'll try tomorrow. I'd love for Sean to kidnap Craig and make him pay but I think he might escape at the last moment."

A third said: "Yes Sean, finally some decisive action. I fear he'll go lightly on him though as he hasn't seen Amy's bruise yet." And a fourth simply said: "I didn’t realise how much I’d missed Sean."
