Jasmine Fisher has finally confessed to killing her father, Anthony Trueman, in EastEnders, just as two major characters made their return to Walford. In scenes aired tonight (16 February), Jasmine admitted to her grandmother Kat Slater that she was responsible for Anthony's death.
Kat convinced Jasmine to return to the Square for Anthony's funeral after Chrissie Watts suggested Jasmine might be the killer. Once there, Kat confronted her granddaughter, promising to help frame Chrissie. Jasmine tearfully confessed, though the episode ended before she could reveal it was in self-defence. Viewers already knew Jasmine had struck Anthony after he attacked her mother, Zoe Slater, and then tried to attack her.
Fans had been eagerly awaiting the truth, with one saying: 'I’m just happy about the ending because finally Jasmine admitted she killed Anthony.' Another expressed hope that Patrick Trueman would understand, given Jasmine had proof it was self-defence.
Jasmine's confession coincided with the return of Big Mo Harris, Jasmine's great-great-grandmother, who had been away since October. Big Mo missed several Slater family developments, including the departures of Freddie and Jean, the return of Jake Moon, and the revelation that Jasmine is a secret Slater. She shared a touching scene with Jake, offering him a place with the Slaters as an 'uncle to Alfie's boys'.
Also returning was Howie Danes, who had been gone for two months after being shamed by the Trueman family and dumped by fiancée Kim Fox for blackmailing Oscar Branning. His return was met with disappointment from Patrick, who had hoped for Jasmine or another of Anthony's children. However, Kim was seen smiling at his arrival, hinting at a possible reunion.
