Death in Paradise Star Reveals Show's Future and Hollywood Co-Star Dream
Former Death in Paradise actress Jo Martin has opened up about the future of her much-loved drama series, The Marlow Murder Club, and shared her dream of working with a Hollywood icon. In an exclusive interview, Martin discussed the show's upcoming seasons and potential character developments.
The Marlow Murder Club's Return and Future
The Marlow Murder Club, a cosy mystery series created by Robert Thorogood, the mind behind Death in Paradise, follows three amateur detectives solving crimes in the tranquil riverside town of Marlow. The series features retired archaeologist Judith Potts (played by Samantha Bond), professional dog walker Suzie Harris (Jo Martin), and vicar's wife Becks Starling (Cara Horgan).
The third season premiered on Wednesday, March 18, with the civilian consultants facing investigations that hit closer to home than ever before. According to a synopsis, the season includes cases such as:
- The sudden death of Marlow's beloved mayor.
- A celebrity chef found dead at his cookbook launch.
- An eerie manor house case linked to Becks' past, threatening the team's roles as advisors.
Excitingly, the show has already been greenlit for a fourth series, with filming scheduled to begin this summer, ensuring fans have more mysteries to look forward to.
Jo Martin's Character Development Hopes
In her interview, Martin expressed a desire to explore more of her character Suzie's personal life. She specifically mentioned wanting to bring in Suzie's ex-husband, who abandoned her years ago, to delve into their past relationship. Martin humorously suggested that showrunners could try to hire Hollywood legend Denzel Washington for the role, joking, "I don't know if he's available!"
She elaborated on this idea, stating, "It would be good to see what that was about and who he is. He kind of put her off men for a very long time, so how awful was he, and has he changed? And what could that be like? That would be quite interesting, because obviously he's back in my daughter's life, because in the first season she was in Jamaica hanging out with him."
This potential storyline could add depth to Suzie's character, exploring themes of forgiveness and personal growth.

The third season of The Marlow Murder Club features an array of new guest stars across its six episodes, including:
